Only 7 more days until Bailey’s Birthday!!
Yesterday, I posted an invitation for everyone to Celebrate Bailey’s Birthday by doing something good for your local shelter. One of my friends recently brought to my attention an adoption event that’s been going on over on Petside since late January. Of the original 15 dogs and cats, 4 dogs are left still needing homes. This event ends on March 9. If you live in the area of Philadelphia PA or Charleston, SC, here is your chance to adopt a dog that needs you!

Bailey had surgery for cancer in December of 2005, and was given only 6 months to live. But Bailey fooled us all! She will be 13 years old on March 11!
To celebrate, Bailey invites you to make a contribution to your favorite local animal shelter or pet rescue group. Donate food, volunteer some time, or simply write a check. Take this opportunity to teach your children about the importance of caring for our furry buddies. You’ll get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that your gift of time, money, or food will allow your favorite shelter or rescue to care for orphaned pets.
Then come to My Fire Hydrant starting on March 11, and post a comment telling Bailey what you did (or what you plan to do) for your local shelter/rescue to celebrate Bailey’s Big 13! You can also post photos and videos to Flickr, with the tag baileysbd, showing you and/or your pet in birthday hats and a party attitude. We will feature these photos on My Fire Hydrant throughout the month of March.
